Terms of Service
Effective August 22, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Deutsch at https://deutsch.hunterallenprice.com/ (the “Service”), operated by Hunter Allen Price (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use it only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. The Service is not intended to collect personal information from children under 13.
2. Educational service
Deutsch provides vocabulary practice, automated answer checking, pronunciation tools, and review scheduling for general educational purposes. Translations, grammar notes, pronunciation, scores, recall estimates, and schedules may contain errors and are not professional instruction, certification, or a guarantee of language proficiency.
3. Progress and backups
The Service stores progress in your browser and, when you sign in, synchronizes a copy to your account. Browser settings, private-browsing modes, device failure, provider outages, or software errors may still affect availability. You are responsible for making backups you consider important.
4. Accounts
Email accounts use passwordless sign-in links. You must provide an address you control, protect access to your email account, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. You may not access another person’s account or attempt to defeat authentication, authorization, rate limits, or security controls.
5. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use the Service unlawfully or to harm, harass, impersonate, or deceive others.
- Probe, disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or bypass Service security except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Upload malicious code or content that infringes another person’s rights.
- Use automated means that materially interfere with operation of the Service.
6. Your custom content
You retain rights in vocabulary, notes, or other content you add. You represent that you have the right to use that content. You grant us only the limited permission needed to process it to provide the Service. Custom content is included in synchronized progress when you are signed in.
7. Our content and software
The Service, its design, software, original text, and branding are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the Service; they do not transfer ownership.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties including Cloudflare for hosting, Supabase for authentication and synchronized progress, an email-delivery provider, and browser or operating-system speech services. Their services and terms are outside our control. Links to third-party resources do not constitute an endorsement.
9. Changes and availability
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service. We do not promise that the Service will always be available, error-free, secure, or compatible with every browser or device. We may update these Terms and will revise the effective date or provide additional notice where required.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, progress, profits, or opportunities arising from the Service. Our aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service during the preceding 12 months or US $100. These limits do not apply where prohibited.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect the Service or others, address a violation of these Terms, or comply with law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute must be brought in a court with lawful jurisdiction over the operator, except that mandatory consumer protections and venue rights in your location continue to apply.
